At a month postpartum, I was told my baby was not gaining weight with nursing and that we needed to start formula right away. I was told my milk supply was gone and most likely not coming back.. I wanted to give up but decided to try exclusive pumping… ❤️🩹
The first few weeks were brutal, trying to figure out what worked, in pain and getting only a few mL at a time. I wondered if it was even worth it, but the thought of even a little breastmilk being better than none and my desire to not give up kept me going for my baby.
I researched nonstop, tried every trick: power pumping, hydration, supplements, lactation consultants, new flanges, better pumps. Slowly but surely, my supply started creeping up through ups and downs..
